Xur Location and Inventory | 8/6 -8/9/2021

Greetings, Guardians! Did you see this week’s TWAB? Some interesting changes are coming. Personally, I’m into the unbinding of melee attacks and the Nova Warp buffs. I’ve definitely accidentally smacked something I was intending to throw a knife or smoke bomb at instead, and Warp has always felt like the weakest thing you can be doing as a Warlock by a long shot, so I’m glad to see it become potentially powerful. Anyway, Xur things. This weekend, everyone’s favorite Exotic merchant is hiding out at [location]. Read on to see what he’s got.

This week, for 29 Legendary Shards, Xur carries:

Skyburner’s Oath

Skyburner’s Oath is a big, imposing Scout Rifle modeled after Cabal weaponry. To wit, its first Exotic perk (it has two!) is Slug Rifle, which turns the gun into a powerful but slow Scout when ADS, while having it fire grenade-like rounds from the hip. The other perk, For the Empire, sets the Oath to more of a PvE mode, with extra damage to Cabal, the ability to ignore Phalanx shields, and full-auto fire.

I love the feel of Skyburner’s Oath — there’s a weight to each of those ADS shots that I really enjoy — but there are better weapons if you’re interested in playing optimally. I’d still grab it from Xur, though.

And for 23 Legendary Shards, Xur offers:

Eye of Another World

The Eye is a particularly neat-looking Warlock hat. Its Cerebral Uplink hooks up to your cool magic space brain, marking critically wounded enemies and reducing cooldowns for your own abilities. Not the best Warlock Exotic by any stretch, but it looks cool, and that counts for something.

Ophidia Spathe

Ophidia Spathe is an Exotic Hunter Chest that gives Gunslingers another Throwing Knife with its Scissor Fingers Exotic Perk. It also has snakes all over it. If either of these facts speak to you, go for it. You’ll definitely have better options, though.

Severance Enclosure

Severance Enclosure is a Titan Chest that allows for some spicy chained kills. Its intrinsic Spheromatik Trigger perk makes elemental melee kills trigger an explosion of the same element. This explosion is larger and more damaging if caused by a finisher or melee hit. Titans aren’t exactly hurting for good Exotics, but this is a cool, if niche, option.

Xur also carries an Exotic Engram, providing a random piece of Exotic armor for 97 Legendary Shards, the Five of Swords for Nightfalls, and The Question Exotic Quest for a sweet Legacy Engram.

Nothing too out of the ordinary or special this week. As usual, I’ll always like Skyburner’s and be less than impressed by Ophidia Spathe. Xur’s stuff this week feels pretty miserable, all in all.

See you next week!
