Welcome back, Guardians! How’s your armor this season? All nice and shiny with cool particle effects? Nice. Let’s see if Xur, the enigmatic Agent of the Nine, can complete your look with a fine piece of Exotic equipment. Sources tell me Xur is on Titan, in his little hideaway on The Rig. Read on to see what he’s got for sale.
This week, for 29 Legendary Shards, Xur carries:
Sunshot
Sunshot is an Exotic Hand Cannon, and, much like the Sun itself, a deadly laser. Sunshot’s Exotic Sunburn Perk makes rounds explosive, while also highlighting targets hit by Sunshot. Honestly, I think the gun is a bit underrated, but there’s every chance you already got a Sunshot in the Red War campaign, which makes buying one seem kind of unnecessary. Pick it up and give it a try if you missed it, though.
And for 23 Legendary Shards, Xur offers:
Contraverse Hold
Voidwalkers this week have access to the Contraverse Hold, a set of Exotic Gauntlets. Their Chaotic Exchanger perk charges your grenade while reducing damage when you use your melee ability. Charged Grenades do amplified damage and return a random amount of Grenade energy. It’s been nerfed, but if you’re interested in that riskier, up close style, it’s still a solid choice.
Gwisin Vest
Wikipedia tells me a Gwisin is some sort of Korean spirit. Neat! The Gwisin Vest is a solid piece of Hunter armor that rewards you for getting up close and personal with Spectral Blades. Its intrinsic Roving Assassin perk gives you Super energy every time someone falls to your Spectral Blades and you’re able to return to stealth. Give them the stabo and get rewarded.
Actium War Rig
The Actium War Rig is a sweet Exotic chest piece that keeps your finger on the Auto Rifle trigger with its Exotic Auto-Loading Link perk. Auto-Loading Link reloads your Auto Rifles as you’re firing them, helping to bring some sweet sustained damage. If you’re a Titan who’s a fan of autofire, run to Xur and throw Shards at him until he hands you an Actium War Rig.
Xur also carries an Exotic Engram, providing a random Exotic goodie for 97 Legendary Shards, the Five of Swords for Nightfalls, and The Invitation of the Nine for 9 Legendary Shards, if you haven’t completed that quest yet.
Interesting set of items this week. All niche, but all pretty nice within that niche. In my opinion, that’s more interesting than generalist good stuff. Give something here a try and see if it resonates with your playstyle.
