Xur Location and inventory | 9/4 – 9/7

Welcome back and Happy September, Guardians! With summer coming to an end, we find Xur in one of his favorite locations; the shiny golden barge on Nessus, near Watcher’s Cove. Read on to see what goodies he’s brought for us this week.

This week, for 29 Legendary Shards, Xur carries:

Merciless

Merciless, an Exotic Fusion Rifle, has a bit of a history in this game. Once one of the best weapons you could be using for endgame PvE content, its star has fallen considerably, to the point where it’s now… still pretty good at clearing enemies, but outclassed. Conserve Momentum, Merciless’ Exotic Perk, shines against bosses and yellow mobs, lowering the charge time every time it doesn’t kill its target. Honestly, I still consider Merciless worth the pickup. It’s a fun gun to fire, and is still capable of massacring anything you point it at.

And for 23 Legendary Shards, Xur offers:

Wings of Sacred Dawn

The Wings of Sacred Dawn are an Exotic Chest piece for Dawnblade Warlocks. Their Tome of Dawn perk allows you to hang in the air while ADS, reducing flinch, gaining accuracy, and getting some damage resistance. Hangtime increases with hits, so if you’re accurate, you can stay airborne for a bit. I can’t recommend this strategy – people know how to look up in Destiny – but if this sounds like your kind of plan, go ahead and give the Wings a shot.

Foetracer

Foetracer is an Exotic Hunter helmet built to track and finish off targets. Its intrinsic Relentless Tracker perk tracks targets you put your reticle over, and increases your damage dealt to low health targets. Vision is always a good thing; by that logic, Foetracer is always a solid pick. Go get one.

Aeon Safe

Do not touch the Aeon set of Exotics; they are terrible to the point that I’m surprised they’re even in the game. You should be able to find another Exotic somewhere that does things better than its Aeon equivalent. Do not purchase.

Xur also carries an Exotic Engram, providing a random Exotic piece for 97 Legendary Shards, the Five of Swords for Nightfalls, and The Invitation of the Nine for 9 Legendary Shards, if you haven’t completed that quest yet.

Not the best selection from Xur this week. Foetracer is neat, the Wings are kind of niche, and Aeon Safe is bad and it should feel bad. Hopefully, this isn’t a sign of Xur drops to come.

See you next week!
