Xur Location and inventory | 7/31 – 8/3

We’re back! Even more exciting, so is Xur, everyone’s favorite confusing smoky tentacle merchant! This week, Xur is lurking in the EDZ, in the Winding Cove. Read on for a breakdown of his goods.

This week, for 29 Legendary Shards, Xur carries:

Telesto

AKA haha Exotic Fusion Rifle go brrrrr

Telesto is a Fusion Rifle that plays a little bit differently than its peers. The Unplanned Reprieve perk makes Telesto fire what are essentially delayed Void sticky bombs, rather than the standard Fusion Rifle death lasers. It sounds weird, but once you’re used to it, Telesto becomes one of the most interesting and satisfying Exotics in the game to use. It’s at its best in PvE, where you can take advantage of Harbinger’s Pulse to reload your weapons on multikills, but I’ve also had a blast with it in PvP, despite it being a bit suboptimal there. Telesto is fun. Don’t hesitate to grab it.

And for 23 Legendary Shards, Xur offers:

Ophidian Aspect

For the Warlocks, Xur brings a set of Ophidian Aspect Gauntlets. These snek gloves carry the Cobra Totemic Exotic perk, allowing you to ready your weapons faster, reload faster, and melee from slightly further away. They’re OK at everything; pick them up if you need them.

Aeon Swift

The Aeon set of Exotics (one for each class) have synergistic effects that are amplified by other people in your team also running Aeon armor. The problem is that there are other Exotics that do everything better than Aeon armor, and as such, I can’t recommend paying attention to the sets at all. They’re a waste of Exotic Slots; avoid them.

Lion Rampant

Lion Rampant is a niche set of Titan legs. Their Jump Jets perk grants aerial mobility and airborne hipfire accuracy. That’s super situational, especially given the class they belong to, but definitely neat if it pays off. Try them out. Run rampant. Become a sky lion.

Xur also carries an Exotic Engram, providing a random piece of Exotic armor for 97 Legendary Shards, the Five of Swords for Nightfalls, and The Invitation of the Nine for 9 Legendary Shards, if you haven’t completed that quest yet.

Welp, Hunters didn’t really get an Exotic this week. At least everyone else got an interesting, if not glaringly powerful, piece of armor. But everyone does have the option of getting Telesto. That gun is some of the most fun I’ve had in the whole game, regardless of situation. Make sure to give it a try.

See you next week (hopefully)!
