Xur Location and Inventory | 6/26 -6/29

Welcome back, Guardians! Today, Xur is hiding in the EDZ, at the Winding Cove. Will he have as varied and interesting goods as last week? Read on to find out.

This week, for 29 Legendary Shards, Xur carries:

The Colony

The Colony is an Exotic Grenade Launcher with a pretty neat gimmick. Insectoid Robot Grenades, its Exotic perk, turns missed grenades into angry insectoid robots that hunt down and damage the nearest target. You can miss by quite a bit and still get your damage in; bees find a way. Serve the Colony reloads while the weapon is stowed, making it just that bit more useful in PvE. Pick it up if you didn’t get one when Curse of Osiris was going on; it’s a really fun gun.

And for 23 Legendary Shards, Xur offers:

Phoenix

“Warlocks are edging in on Titan territory, I tell you.”

Phoenix Protocol lore

Phoenix Protocol is a Forsaken Exotic for Dawnblades. Its Battle-Hearth Exotic perk gives you Super energy for kills and assists made in your Well of Radiance. It’s fantastic for when you’re neck deep in enemies; keeping the Well up can keep you and your Fireteam alive and powerful through the onslaught. The Protocol is a strong Warlock option. Go get it.

Young Ahamkara’s Spine

A tthrowback Exotic from Destiny 1, Young Ahamkara’s Spine is simple and effective. It helps fill the world with teeth (in this case, Tripmines) using the Wish-Dragon Teeth Exotic perk, which increases duration and blast radius of Tripmine Grenades while giving you Grenade energy when you do ability damage. Grab it if you’re a fan of Tripmines, oh bearer mine.

Synthoceps

They’re mean, they’re green, they may have a mind of their own, and they just got a buff in the last patch. The Synthoceps are a set of Titan arms whose Biotic Enhancements make a Titan’s favorite activities — punching things and firing Supers — even better. The Enhancements give approximately 50% more melee range intrinsically, but when surrounded by three or more enemies, they gear up and give damage bonuses to melees and Supers. The Synthoceps are much better than they used to be; give them a try.

Xur also carries an Exotic Engram, providing a random Exotic piece for 97 Legendary Shards, the Five of Swords for Nightfalls, and The Invitation of the Nine for 9 Legendary Shards, if you haven’t completed that quest yet.

Fun set of Exotic tools this week. I have a particular fondness for The Colony and its bee grenades. The Phoenix Protocol seems pretty good on paper. The new and improved Synthoceps are back for another week, which is nice, as they’re worth the try. And we even got a fun Destiny 1 Exotic in there so I can say “oh bearer mine!” Here’s hoping for more quality and fun Exotics from Xur in the weeks to come.

Until next week (oh bearer mine).
