Xur Location and Inventory | 3/5 – 3/8/2021

Greetings, Guardians! Hope things are going well. Also hope you’ve seen the dinosaur and monster armor sets, because they’re pretty great. You know what else is great? Exotics. And you know who has them? Xur, Agent of the Nine and generally cool dude. He’s hanging out at the EDZ this week, near the Winding Cove. Read on to see what he’s got.

This week, for 29 Legendary Shards, Xur carries:

Telesto

Telesto is a Fusion Rifle that plays a little bit differently than its peers. The Unplanned Reprieve perk makes Telesto fire what are essentially delayed Void sticky bombs, rather than the standard Fusion Rifle death lasers. It sounds weird, but once you’re used to it, Telesto becomes one of the most interesting and satisfying Exotics in the game to use. It’s at its best in PvE, where you can take advantage of Harbinger’s Pulse to reload your weapons on multikills, but I’ve also had a blast with it in PvP, despite it being a bit suboptimal there. Telesto is fun. Don’t hesitate to grab it.

And for 23 Legendary Shards, Xur offers:

Phoenix Protocol

Phoenix Protocol is a Forsaken Exotic for Dawnblades. Its Battle-Hearth Exotic perk gives you Super energy for kills and assists made in your Well of Radiance. It’s fantastic for when you’re neck deep in enemies; keeping the Well up can keep you and your Fireteam alive and powerful through the onslaught. The Protocol is a strong Warlock option. Go get it.

Foetracer

Foetracer is a Hunter Helmet that gives you increased combat awareness, thanks to the Relentless Tracker Exotic Perk. Targeting foes tracks them, lighting them up on your HUD and allowing you to see them even through walls. If they’re low on health, you’ll receive a small damage big to help finish the job. Pick it up; extra vision is pretty great.

Mk. 44 Stand Asides

“Pardon me, coming through,” says the flavor text on these Exotic Titan legs. You’d be wise to heed that warning; the Stand Asides are a force to be reckoned with. At full health and when sprinting, the Exotic Perk Seriously, Watch Out triggers, giving an overshield while sprinting and plenty of melee energy on a successful melee ability hit. If you want to be the scourge of PvP, these are the boots for you.

Xur also carries an Exotic Engram, providing a random Exotic piece for 97 Legendary Shards, the Five of Swords for Nightfalls, and The Invitation of the Nine for 9 Legendary Shards, if you haven’t completed that quest yet.

Also, Xur now has a quest to get an Exotic Cipher! By doing Strikes or winning Crucible or Gambit games, you can unlock a Cipher to access vaulted Exotic gear!

Xur did well this week, and not even just because of the return of The Besto. Phoenix Protocol, Foetracer, and the Stand Asides are all pretty useful and fun in their niches. Telesto is just fun regardless of application. The only complaint I have is that these Exotics are on the older side, meaning many Guardians probably have them already.

See you next week!
