Xur Location and Inventory | 2/26 – 3/1/2021

Greetings, Guardians, and welcome back. This week, Xur is hanging out on Nessus, near Watcher’s Grave. What goods has our favorite Exotic merchant brought along? Read on to find out.

This week, for 29 Legendary Shards, Xur carries:

Monte Carlo

An old favorite from D1, the Monte Carlo has arrived to help you lay the smackdown on your enemies. Literally. If you like punching stuff half as much as I do, you’re in luck; this Exotic Auto Rifle comes with the Monte Carlo Method Exotic perk, lowering melee ability cooldown with successful shots. Even better? The Method gives Monte Carlo kills a chance to fully reset your melee ability. After spraying or punching your way to a kill, the Markov Chain perk gives the Monte Carlo a damage buff, plus some ammo on melee kills.

This gun was a blast in D1, and I’m told it only gets better here. Pick it up, fire it, punch stuff, and get rewarded.

And for 23 Legendary Shards, Xur offers:

Vesper of Radius

Vesper of Radius is a Warlock Chest piece that a) is pretty gaudy and b) adds an Arc shockwave to your newly cast Rifts, thanks to the Planetary Torrent Exotic Perk. Planetary Torrent also recharges Rifts faster when you’re surrounded by enemies, which is a neat little bonus. This seems fine for PvE scenarios, but I feel like you’ve got better options overall.

Fr0st-EE5s

The Fr0st-EE5s are a set of Hunter legs that reward your need for speed. Rapid Cooldown charges your abilities while you sprint, making them more available when you need them. You also get a sprint speed boost after dodging, which is even more helpful if you’re just trying to run through content in the hopes of sweet rewards. Definitely worth looking into for those grinder play sessions.

Antaeus Wards

A throwback to Forsaken, the Antaeus Wards are a fun and useful set of Titan legs. Their Reflective Wards Exotic Perk improves your slide and gives it the ability to reflect projectiles. It’s not easy, but once you get the timing down, you can reflect any number of projectiles, up to and including Supers like Nova Bomb. That’s useful and hilarious, making the Wards an Exotic I can absolutely get behind.

Xur also carries an Exotic Engram, providing a random Exotic piece for 97 Legendary Shards, the Five of Swords for Nightfalls, and The Invitation of the Nine for 9 Legendary Shards, if you haven’t completed that quest yet.

Also, Xur now has a quest to get an Exotic Cipher! By doing Strikes or winning Crucible or Gambit games, you can unlock a Cipher to access vaulted Exotic gear!

This week’s Xur stock isn’t bad, overall. I’m not a big fan of the Vesper, but Monte Carlo is a great fun for a punchy playstyle, the Antaeus Wards are cheesy goodness once you’re past their learning curve, and the Fr0st-EE5s are something I’d want if I was grinding up my Hunter at the moment. I wouldn’t feel bad throwing currency at Xur for any of them.

See you next week!
