Xur Location and inventory | 12/11 – 12/14

Greetings, Guardians! Hope the season is treating you well. I also hope that you’ve gotten your hands on the returning Hawkmoon, a returning Exotic Hand Cannon from D1 and personal favorite. If you need any help with the Exotic Quest, our very own Nico has a guide.

If, however, you want to know what Xur, the enigmatic and — dare I say it, kind of wiggly — Agent of the Nine has for sale this weekend, then look no further. Sources tell me he’s in the Tower, near our good old friends from Dead Orbit. Read on to see what he has in stock.

This week, for 29 Legendary Shards, Xur carries:

Trinity Ghoul

No jokes here. I just think the arrowhead is neat.

From the Forsaken expansion, Trinity Ghoul is an Exotic Bow that blasts unlucky enemies with lightning. One of its two unique Perks, Split Electron, lets the bow fire a split arrow whose spread can be controlled by fully drawing and aiming down sights. The other, Lightning Rod, rewards precision kills by letting the next shot create a chain lightning storm. By their powers combined, the two perks make the Ghoul a pretty neat PvE weapon, kind of like the old Zhalo Supercell, but with a little more work required. If you like Bows and/or lightning, give it a try.

And for 23 Legendary Shards, Xur offers:

Vesper of Radius

Shiny.

Vesper of Radius is a Warlock Chest piece that a) is pretty gaudy and b) adds an Arc shockwave to your newly cast Rifts, thanks to the Planetary Torrent Exotic Perk. Planetary Torrent also recharges Rifts faster when you’re surrounded by enemies, which is a neat little bonus. This seems fine for PvE scenarios, but I feel like you’ve got better options overall.

Gwisin Vest

Pictured: Gwisin

Wikipedia tells me a Gwisin is some sort of Korean spirit. Neat! The Gwisin Vest is a solid piece of Hunter armor that rewards you for getting up close and personal with Spectral Blades. Its intrinsic Roving Assassin perk gives you Super energy every time someone falls to your Spectral Blades and you’re able to return to stealth. Give them the stabo and get rewarded.

Armamentarium

The Armamentarium, specializing in having an extra grenade pocket.

You know what’s never bad? An extra grenade. Titans can opt into that simple, yet effective philosophy this week by picking up The Armamentarium. And Another Thing gives you another Grenade charge to blast your enemies with. Sometimes, that’s all you need. Pick it up if you don’t have it.

Xur also carries an Exotic Engram, providing a random Exotic piece for 97 Legendary Shards, the Five of Swords for Nightfalls, and The Invitation of the Nine for 9 Legendary Shards, if you haven’t completed that quest yet.

Also, Xur now has a quest to get an Exotic Cipher! By doing Strikes or winning Crucible or Gambit games, you can unlock a Cipher to access vaulted Exotic gear!

The Agent of the Nine has spoken, and he has decided that it is Chest day. All in all, there’s nothing too exciting here; just some nice, utilitarian gear and a fun-looking Exotic Bow. Grab what you need if you’re collecting. Feel free to pass and save some Shards if you’re not.

See you next week!
