Xur Location and inventory | 10/30 – 11/2

Happy Halloween, Guardians! As our Spooktober comes to an end, our favorite Exotic merchant, Xur, descends to The Rig on Titan. Hopefully, he’s here with treats (Good Exotics) and not tricks (Lucky Pants). Read on to find out.

This week, for 29 Legendary Shards, Xur carries:

Skyburner’s Oath

Skyburner’s Oath is a big, imposing Scout Rifle modeled after Cabal weaponry. To wit, its first Exotic perk (it has two!) is Slug Rifle, which turns the gun into a powerful but slow Scout when ADS, while having it fire grenade-like rounds from the hip. The other perk, For the Empire, sets the Oath to more of a PvE mode, with extra damage to Cabal, the ability to ignore Phalanx shields, and full-auto fire.

I love the feel of Skyburner’s Oath — there’s a weight to each of those ADS shots that I really enjoy — but there are better weapons if you’re interested in playing optimally. I’d still grab it from Xur, though.

And for 23 Legendary Shards, Xur offers:

Transversive Steps

Transversive Steps are a very handy pair of Warlock boots. Their Strange Protractor perk gives you a general boost to sprint speed, while automatically keeping your Energy Weapon topped off. Grab a set and feel the speed.

Ophidia Spathe

Ophidia Spathe is an Exotic Hunter Chest that gives Gunslingers another Throwing Knife with its Scissor Fingers Exotic Perk. It also has snakes all over it. On a completely unrelated note, a lesson I’ve learned writing this column for nearly a year is that Hunter Exotics have a tendency to be depressing to try to write content for.

Eternal Warrior

Are you a Striker Titan somehow always getting taken out mid- Fist of Havoc? That sounds like a you problem, but Xur has you covered anyway with the Eternal Warrior helmet. The Warrior’s intrinsic Resolute perk gives an overshield when starting up your Fist. Doesn’t seem super necessary in most situations, but hey, more damage reduction never hurt anyone.

Xur also carries an Exotic Engram, providing a random piece of Exotic armor for 97 Legendary Shards, the Five of Swords for Nightfalls, and The Invitation of the Nine for 9 Legendary Shards, if you haven’t completed that quest yet.

Traditional Bad Hunter Exotic aside, Xur’s spooky haul isn’t too bad this weekend. Skyburner’s Oath is fun to shoot, Transversive Steps are speed, and Eternal Warrior might have a niche I don’t know.

See you next week!
