Armsday Roll Recommendations

Contributing Author: Alex R.

None – Hakke Zarinaea-D

  1. Surrounded – Focused Fire – Snapshot / Fitted Stock / Smallbore
  2. Last Resort – Spray and Play – Snapshot / Hand Loaded / Smallbore
  3. Last Resort – Persistence – Snapshot / Speed Reload / Rifled Barrel

We want something much better than what the Gunsmith has for us this week. Last Resort is really killing a lot of rolls, and we’d be happy if it was out of the perk pool. If you’re willing to wait, look out for Counterbalance, Rangefinder or Feeding Frenzy combined with Hot Swap or Army of One. Rifled Barrel will also boost this gun’s range to competitive levels.

#1 – SUROS DIS-43

  1. Fitted Stock / Appended Magazine | Luck in the Chamber | Snapshot / Smallbore
  2. Perfect Balance / Appended Magazine | Rodeo | Snapshot / Reinforced Barrel
  3. High Caliber Rounds / Feather Mag | Outlaw | Snapshot / Injection Mold

This is a passable roll for both PvP and PvE due to Luck in the Chamber’s DPS increase. Fitted Stock and Smallbore take stability to amazing levels at the cost of some reload speed and magazine size, but with a natural magazine size of 19, the DIS-43 can handle this decrease. Overall a solid roll, but if you want a perfect roll you’ll have to wait until another week.

#1 or #3 – Hakke Gaheris-D

  1. Surrounded – Final Round – Snapshot/High Caliber Rounds/Reinforced Barrel
  2. Hot Swap – Feeding Frenzy – Snapshot/High Caliber Rounds/Smallbore
  3. Army of One – Feeding Frenzy – Speed Reload/Explosive Rounds/Smallbore

#1 has just about all a PvP player could ask for. Final Round and Rifled Barrel are the gold standard perks for the Gaheris-D perk pool. While Surrounded isn’t ideal, there isn’t much that could take its place other than Hot Swap. Plus, you’ve got Sureshot IS for maximum aim assistance. Happy hunting!

#3 is a PvE-focused roll. Army of One and Feeding Frenzy go great together, bringing you closer to your next grenade/melee charges and speeding up reloads for any kill. Speed Reload is just a small, no-frills bonus to your reload speed. This is a decent roll for PvE that we’d be okay recommending.

#3 – OMOLON Kumakatok HC4

  1. Luck in the chamber – Quickdraw / Rifled Barrel – Life Support / Underdog
  2. Luck in the Chamber – Single Point Sling / braced frame – Icarus / Underdog
  3. Luck in the chamber – Single Point Sling / Rifled Barrel – Life Support / Underdog

This is a pretty solid roll that beats out the nearly identical roll #1 with the addition of Sureshot IS for more target acquisition. Luck in the Chamber adds DPS in both PvE and PvP, putting it as best in class for its perk slot. Rifled Barrel is pretty much a necessity for pulling this gun’s range up to useable levels. Meanwhile, you have the choice between Life Support for clutch healing and Underdog for clutch accuracy. Either of these choices will help in both PvE and PvP, making this roll a success.

#3 – Eirene RR4

  1. Grenadier – Snapshot/Reinforced Barrel – Battle Runner/Last Resort
  2. Grenadier – Snapshot/Injection Mold – Unflinching/Underdog
  3. LitC – Snapshot/Hand-Laid Stock – Battle Runner/Last Resort

This is a PvE roll through and through! With the short-zoom Faucon scope, Luck in the Chamber for extra DPS and Hand-Laid Stock for stability, you can’t go wrong in PvE with this high-impact Sniper Rifle. Battle Runner isn’t as compelling as the rest of the perks, but the extra running speed could save your life in a strike if you need to rush to revive a teammate.

Notable Rolls

#3 – Omolon Cocytus SR4

  • Life Support – Quickdraw/Feather Mag – Zen Moment/Surrounded

This is a very solid best-of-both-worlds situation, combining perks to give you a surprisingly solid Scout Rifle. There’s Torch, of course, and Life Support. Then you have Quickdraw which gives a huge boost to Handling that hits both Equip speed and ADS frames. Finally, we got Zen Moment which does an okay job making up for the lack of Hand-Laid Stock.

#3 – Suros PDX-45

  • Hammer Forged/Oiled Frame – Headseeker – Single Point Sling/Smallbore

Definitely not a “god roll”, but this is very solid if you need a good pulse rifle to infuse up for Iron Banner this week. Hammer Forged and Smallbore give you around 90 Stability and about 43 range, which puts this solidly in the “dominate the whole field” stat-range. SPO-28 is a great mid-zoom scope, and there’s the SLO-12 for those who want zero obstructions. Finally, Headseeker is the elephant in the package, not doing a whole ton to benefit the gun. It does make your damage a bit more consistent though, especially on longer shots where some rounds may body, and that’s not a bad thing.

If you already have a good roll here, keep waiting.

#2 – Hakke Aoife Rua D

  • Surplus – spray & play – perfect balance / APR / braced frame
  • Private eye – who’s next? – perfect balance / APR / braced frame

A PVE-only recommendation for the Aoife this week. Roll 2 gives us Surplus, Spray and Play, and Perfect Balance for a very easy to use and rewarding sniper to run in Strikes, Story, and Patrol.

#3 – Suros DIS-47

  • Luck in the Chamber – High Caliber Rounds / Appended Magazine – Speed Reload / Injection Mold

A bit of a counter-intuitive pick, this is my suggestion for the brave among you. Luck in the Chamber makes it easier to hit your optimal time-to-kill when it procs, as you need only 3 headshots and 2 bodies instead of 4 headshots and 1 body – a small but measurable edge. HCR has also started to see a resurgence on high rate of fire weapons, adding extra kick to your opponents’ return fire and making you a hard target. Finally, Injection Mold boosts both Stability and Handling at the expense of range, making this one a definitively short-mid range scout rifle. Caveat emptor!

#1 – Suros ARI-41

  • Fitted Stock/Appended Magazine – Lightweight/Smallbore – Hidden Hand

This is a surprisingly solid roll, despite Fitted Stock being a bit lackluster. SLO-19 is a great scope, and SPO-57 can be fun as well. The real magic, though, happens when you clear 90 Stability between FS and Smallbore, make it to 30 Range as well, and increase the already excellent Aim Assist further with Hidden Hand. All that Accuracy and Stability makes landing your .9s optimal time-to-kill a real possibility! Plus, Appended mag pushes your mag size back up if you take it into PVE.

Next Week’s Orders

Weapon Type Impact Notable Stat
Arminius-D Auto Rifle Lowest AA (80)
SUROS PDX-45 Pulse Rifle Low Reload (90)
SUROS JLB-47 Launcher n/a Velocity (74)
Jingukogo-D Shotgun Medium Stability (56)
Eirene RR4 Sniper Rifle Highest Reload (57)

Hakke Arminius-D

This Auto Rifle archetype has become extremely popular with the introduction of the Doctrine of Passing, but with this gun’s stat blend, we’ll need a lot of help from perks to be competitive. We’ll see next week if there are enough perks offered to shore up the stability while providing some use in either PvE or PvP.

SUROS PDX-45

This gun falls in the same impact category as the Crucible Quartermaster’s Hawksaw but with more stability, reload and aim assistance. This is always a must-order for next week. There are a number of perk combinations that will work for this gun, but we’ll also be looking for a good scope. The gun has 22 base range, so we’ll definitely need a fix, but if we get a good roll next week, you can expect to see this gun everywhere in PvE and PvP alike.

SUROS JLB-47

Being a Rocket Launcher, we’re going to be most interested in the rolls rather than the stats, but this launcher will offer us the right stats to be competitive in PvE and PvP. With a high blast radius of 84, magazine size of 2 and velocity of 74, the JLB-47 will give you everything you need to hit your targets, and we highly recommend placing an order to try it out next week.

Hakke Jingukogo-D

Despite being named differently than the Strongbow-D Shotgun, the Jingukogo-D is the exact same as the Strongbow-D besides having 2 more reload speed. Talk about variety. Basically, this shotgun is a low-impact, high rate of fire archetype that won’t be preferred in PvP but can work in PvE. We’ll look to see if there are any interesting rolls next week regardless, as certain perks like Spray and Play can make shotguns much more viable in PvE.

Eirene RR4

Repeat! With the unique impact archetype that combines the firing rate of a Her Benevolence/1000-Yard Stare with a bit more impact, this sniper can kill revived opponents with head shots in the Crucible as well as add more damage to bosses in PvE. We’ll be praying for the Faucon SS1 Scope for the shortest zoom, but even with a bad scope, this sniper’s high impact rating will warrant usage in the raid as well as Skirmish, Elimination and Salvage.
