Greetings, Guardians! Hope you’re doing alright. No fluff up top today; Xur is at the Winding Cove on EDZ. Let’s talk what he’s got in stock.
This week, for 29 Legendary Shards, Xur carries:
Crimson
Do you like Exotic Hand Cannons, but don’t feel like playing with The Last Word or Thorn? Do you have some Destiny 1 nostalgia, like the author of this post? Do you like profiting from other people’s suffering? If any of your answers were “Yes,” allow me to introduce Crimson.
Crimson is an Exotic Kinetic Hand Cannon with a couple of very fun twists. First, according to the Vanguard and its first unique perk, Crimson is a Banned Weapon, firing a 3-round burst instead of the usual snappy Hand Cannon shot. Second, Crimson carries the Cruel Remedy Exotic Perk, healing the wielder on kills and refilling the magazine on precision kills. This formula worked out well for a Pulse Rifle years ago in Destiny 1; I can’t imagine it’s bad on a Hand Cannon here. Pick it up if you can.
And for 23 Legendary Shards, Xur offers:
Chromatic Fire
Xur brings the colorful heat with Chromatic Fire this week. This Warlock chest piece lets you have Dragonfly on any (Kinetic) gun thanks to the Crystalline Transistor perk. The Transistor makes enemies killed by Kinetic precision kills explode in a damage type based on your subclass. This seems pretty useful in PvE settings, where both the explosion and the element can be relevant. Check it out.
St0mp-EE5
For Hunters that want to move faster, jump higher, and slide further, Xur provides some St0mp-EE5s. Their Hydraulic Boosters perk… does everything I said in the last sentence, and that’s great, because mobility is generally a very nice thing. The Stompies are a great pickup, to the point where I find myself unable to sell them harder. Good leg armor. Grab them if you need them.
Ursa Furiosa
Ursa Furiosa gives you the ability to fight the Darkness with your bear hands. The Exotic Gauntlets carry the Ursine Guard perk, giving you Super energy when you block damage with your Sentinel Shield and raising movement speed while you have the Shield raised. They’re pretty good, especially in some endgame PvE content. Pick them up if you’re a fan of the Sentinel Shield or the bear motif.
Xur also carries an Exotic Engram, providing a random Exotic piece for 97 Legendary Shards, the Five of Swords for Nightfalls, and The Invitation of the Nine for 9 Legendary Shards, if you haven’t completed that quest yet.
Also, Xur now has a quest to get an Exotic Cipher! By doing Strikes or winning Crucible or Gambit games, you can unlock a Cipher to access vaulted Exotic gear!
Not too bad this week. I really enjoy Crimson, though it makes me miss Red Death. The St0mp-EE5s are pretty nice, Ursa Furiosa is solid, and Chromatic Fire also exists. Fun fact: this is the first time Ursa Furiosa has popped up in Xur’s inventory in the history of my time doing the Xur write-ups, so grab them now if you need them for your collection.
See you next week!
