Greetings, Guardians! How’s the new season treating you? Enjoying the classic Strikes? If not, I know a guy who might be able to help; Xur, the Exotic merchant and Agent of the Nine. He’s at the Tower this week, near the Dead Orbit hangout. Read on to see what he’s brought us.
This week, for 29 Legendary Shards, Xur carries:
Hard Light
Not too long ago, Hard Light was the gun to beat in endgame PvP content. Volatile Light used to remove damage falloff completely, and shots would ricochet and pierce for much more damage, turning narrow passages into kill boxes. The gun is still good, especially in PvE, where the nerfs don’t exist, but it isn’t the dedicated Trials carry gun that it used to be. Still worth grabbing if you haven’t already, in my opinion.
And for 23 Legendary Shards, Xur offers:
Felwinter’s Helm
For Warlock fans of legendary Guardians (and once upon a time, comically ranged shotguns), Felwinter’s Helm is in stock this week. The Helm has the Warlord’s End Exotic Perk, making elemental melee kills cause a weakening effect in an area around you. It’s a neat idea that sounds handy in giant mobs. Give it a shot.
Young Ahamkara’s Spine
A tthrowback Exotic from Destiny 1, Young Ahamkara’s Spine is simple and effective. It helps fill the world with teeth (in this case, Tripmines) using the Wish-Dragon Teeth Exotic perk, which increases duration and blast radius of Tripmine Grenades while giving you Grenade energy when you do ability damage. Grab it if you’re a fan of Tripmines, oh bearer mine.
Dunemarchers
The Dunebois are back again, and they’re still good. Buy them if you didn’t the last couple of times. Linear Actuators give your Titan a faster sprint and chain melee damage to foes close to your original target. Go fast. Punch stuff. It’s as easy as that.
Xur also carries an Exotic Engram, providing a random Exotic piece for 97 Legendary Shards, the Five of Swords for Nightfalls, and The Invitation of the Nine for 9 Legendary Shards, if you haven’t completed that quest yet.
Also, Xur now has a quest to get an Exotic Cipher! By doing Strikes or winning Crucible or Gambit games, you can unlock a Cipher to access vaulted Exotic gear!
Not my favorite week, inventory-wise. Hard Light is a fun Auto Rifle, and the Dunebois are a solid choice, but nothing else really stands out.
