Greetings, Guardians! Hope everything’s going great. Xur is on Nessus, near the Watcher’s Grave area, this weekend. Read on to see if he’s brought the goods.
This week, for 29 Legendary Shards, Xur carries:
Hard Light
Not too long ago, Hard Light was the gun to beat in endgame PvP content. Volatile Light used to remove damage falloff completely, and shots would ricochet and pierce for much more damage, turning narrow passages into kill boxes. The gun is still good, especially in PvE, where the nerfs don’t exist, but it isn’t the dedicated Trials carry gun that it used to be. Still worth grabbing if you haven’t already, in my opinion.
And for 23 Legendary Shards, Xur offers:
Eye of Another World
The Eye is a particularly neat-looking Warlock hat. Its Cerebral Uplink hooks up to your cool magic space brain, marking critically wounded enemies and reducing cooldowns for your own abilities. Not the best Warlock Exotic by any stretch, but it looks cool, and that counts for something.
Young Ahamkara’s Spine
A throwback Exotic from Destiny 1, Young Ahamkara’s Spine is simple and effective. It helps fill the world with teeth (in this case, Tripmines) using the Wish-Dragon Teeth Exotic perk, which increases duration and blast radius of Tripmine Grenades while giving you Grenade energy when you do ability damage. Grab it if you’re a fan of Tripmines, oh bearer mine.
Crest of Alpha Lupi
Not every Exotic needs to be flashy to be good; the Crest of Alpha Lupi stands as proof. Survival Well, the Crest’s intrinsic perk, makes Supers grant more Orbs of Light while also making your Barricades trigger health regen. These two effects are huge, and can definitely save a fireteam in PvE and PvP.
Xur also carries an Exotic Engram, providing a random piece of Exotic armor for 97 Legendary Shards, the Five of Swords for Nightfalls, and The Invitation of the Nine for 9 Legendary Shards, if you haven’t completed that quest yet.
Note to collectors: this is the first time I’ve seen Eye of Another World and Crest of Alpha Lupi in about a year. Get a hold of them if you haven’t yet done so.
Not much to say about this week’s crop aside from its relative rarity. Hard Light remains a fun weapon, even if no longer top tier. Spine is nothing too special, but it allows me to make the flavor text joke, which I appreciate, oh bearer mine.
Keep raiding that Vault, Guardians. See you next week!
