Greetings, Guardians! How are things? Excited about the Upcoming Season of the Chosen? I am. I’m also excited about the changes being made to the Aeon Sect Exotic pieces. They still don’t seem amazing, but maybe these changes will be enough to make them worth trying out. Speaking of Exotics, let’s talk the creature that sells them: Xur, Agent of the Nine. He’s hanging out at the EDZ’s Winding Cove this weekend. Read on to find out what he’s got in stock.
This week, for 29 Legendary Shards, Xur carries:
Telesto
Telesto is a Fusion Rifle that plays a little bit differently than its peers. The Unplanned Reprieve perk makes Telesto fire what are essentially delayed Void sticky bombs, rather than the standard Fusion Rifle death lasers. It sounds weird, but once you’re used to it, Telesto becomes one of the most interesting and satisfying Exotics in the game to use. It’s at its best in PvE, where you can take advantage of Harbinger’s Pulse to reload your weapons on multikills, but I’ve also had a blast with it in PvP, despite it being a bit suboptimal there. Telesto is fun. Don’t hesitate to grab it.
And for 23 Legendary Shards, Xur offers:
Sunbracers
Sunbreakers are Exotic Warlock Gauntlets that allow you to provide opponents with more Vitamin D. By this, I mean their Helium Spirals perk makes your Solar Grenades last longer, up to 8 seconds. But that’s not all; Impact Induction makes Melee hits replenish Grenade energy, so you can keep throwing tiny Suns at your enemies if you’re aggressive enough. These used to be given away as a quest reward in the early stretch of the game, so you might already have them. If you don’t, give them a look.
Gwisin Vest
Wikipedia tells me a Gwisin is some sort of Korean spirit. Neat! The Gwisin Vest is a solid piece of Hunter armor that rewards you for getting up close and personal with Spectral Blades. Its intrinsic Roving Assassin perk gives you Super energy every time someone falls to your Spectral Blades and you’re able to return to stealth. Give them the stabo and get rewarded.
Severance Enclosure
(I actually fixed my screenshot files yesterday, but still don’t have one for Severance Enclosure somehow. Apologies for the inconvenience)
Severance Enclosure is a Titan Chest that allows for some spicy chained kills. Its intrinsic Spheromatik Trigger perk makes elemental melee kills trigger an explosion of the same element. This explosion is larger and more damaging if caused by a finisher or melee hit. Titans aren’t exactly hurting for good Exotics, but this is a cool, if niche, option.
Xur also carries an Exotic Engram, providing a random Exotic piece for 97 Legendary Shards, the Five of Swords for Nightfalls, and The Invitation of the Nine for 9 Legendary Shards, if you haven’t completed that quest yet.
Also, Xur now has a quest to get an Exotic Cipher! By doing Strikes or winning Crucible or Gambit games, you can unlock a Cipher to access vaulted Exotic gear!
Well, Telesto is in stock this week, so my recommendation is simple; go to Xur and buy as many of them as you can. Sure, the armor is neat, but Telesto is right there. It could be in your hands, making its fun firing noise and blasting your enemies with what kind of looks like exploding bubble gum balls.
See you next week!
