Happy Xur Day, everybody! It’s time to get our weekly presents from Space Santa! Reports tell me that Xur is on Nessus this week, hanging out at Calus’ Barge in Watcher’s Grave. Let’s see what he brought us.
This week, for 29 Legendary Shards, Xur carries:
Tractor Cannon
You know those plastic bazookas that shoot air bubbles at people? The Tractor Cannon is like that, but made of science and pure joy. Technically an Exotic Shotgun, its intrinsic perk, Repulsor Force, knocks away and suppresses its hit target, making it a sitting duck for bonus damage. Secondary perk The Scientific Method rewards hitting the target with bonus stats, so you can Cannon people more.
This gun is great at everything. Pick it up and start yeeting enemies off of every piece of high terrain you see. The Tractor Cannon is one of the most genuinely fun weapons in the game; grab it if you need it.
And for 23 Legendary Shards, Xur offers:
Starfire Protocol
Sadly, nothing about this piece has changed since last we saw it, so it’s block quote time:
What a cool name for such a meh Warlock chest piece. The Starfire Protocol allows Dawnblade Warlocks to have another Fusion Grenade and get Rift energy on Fusion Grenade kills with its intrinsic Fusion Harness perk. Cool if you like Dawnblades or Fusion Grenades, I suppose, but that’s a small niche. But in case you need a Void one, Xur’s got you covered.
Me, two weeks ago
The Dragon’s Shadow
The Dragon’s Shadow is a neat PvP Exotic for Hunters. Its Wraithmetal Mail perk reloads your guns on a dodge, and gives some extra movement and handling speed once you’re out of the roll. Not bad by any means, but Hunters definitely aren’t hurting for PvP Exotics. Still; there’s a Void one here if you need it.
Wormgod Caress
This wonderfully named Exotic armor piece is cool, what with Burning Fists rewarding you for punching by making your punches deal more, but you should already have it from doing Warmind story quests. If you didn’t do those, no biggie, just pick up the Solar roll here and get to punching.
Xur also carries an Exotic Engram, providing a random Exotic piece for 97 Legendary Shards, the Five of Swords for Nightfalls, and The Invitation of the Nine for 9 Legendary Shards, if you haven’t completed that quest yet.
Not too bad this week. Seriously, grab the Tractor Cannon if you need it. It’s one of the most fun weapons in the game, bar none.
See you next week, friends!
