Thanks to NeoGAF user Kifimbo, he noticed that Bungie recently trademarked this logo:
Nothing else is 100% confirmed about The Taken King, but you can find all details about the trademark here.
We do have a lot of theories about what this expansion could be about though!

Destiny 1.5
As you can see from the image above, “Hive Ship” might be a new location in The Taken King. It’s unclear if this is still valid, but it definitely seems to be a Hive-orientated expansion.
Supposedly there will be 12 new story missions, 4 more Strikes, 1 additional Public Event, Patrol, & Raid, and 6 more Crucible arenas.
You can see that there are “new player weapon classes” set for “Comet” in this leaked image, but of course this is an outdated leak, and nothing is confirmed yet.
There may also be new “builds” (subclasses), as hinted by Lead designer Tyson Green a few months ago:
It shouldn’t be read as a tacit promise, but the fact that subclasses are swappable should make players excited about the future.

Community Wish List
A much more recent discussion on what’s possibly coming in this expansion can be found from DeeJ on the Bungie forums. It’s very likely that we will be seeing at least a few of these requested features:
- Transmogrification
- Private Crucible Matches
- Gun Skins
- Guardian Facial Hair
- Vault Sorting Options
- Crucible Map Voting

Release Date?
This major downloadable content expansion is planned for Fall 2015, but nothing concrete other than that.
Fall 2015 is also when Xbox users will have access to the PS exclusive content.
We have a second expansion pack on the way and a major content release coming in the fall and a very robust pipeline planned after that.
Beyond that, whenever you have a large and highly engaged community, there are obviously opportunities for us to deliver a lot of different kinds of content that we think that player base would find valuable and appreciate and that’s what we’re planning on doing.
