No Major Changes Before Launch

According to Dualshockers.com, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg said that he’s ready to have a great launch, and that he does not think there needs to be any big changes before the release of the game in 9/9/14.

In a financial conference recently he spoke on the success of the beta saying,

The good news is because we got 4.6 million players into the beta we were able to test the back-end in scale and it performed really well and stably.

When asked about updates to the game before its release, he said that some alternations would be made.

As you might imagine, we learned a lot by watching players engage with the game and hearing their feedback and Bungie is now making tweaks to optimize the game and they actually did so after the alpha as well, so that’s going to be, I think, an ongoing process to make it a better experience, and nothing is more important to us or to Bungie than delivering a great experience to our community and the beta certainly helped us do that. But I would describe these as tweaks and not major changes as we saw the fundamentals of the game to be very strong.

As for improved graphics, according to DeeJ, they’re aiming for 1080p on all platforms. The only other change they’ve announced is for the Interceptor.

Were you all hoping for any “major changes?” Or with the big fixes and tweaks, do you think Destiny is ready to ship?

In other news, Destiny is tracking towards an “industry record for a new intellectual property.” Activision believes it will be the largest new intellectual property launch in videogame history, according to their 2014 second quarter financial report.
