Would you defy Me? I am the eater of hope.
Hunger of Crota is a Legendary heavy rocket launcher.
This weapon has the chance to drop after defeating Crota in Crota’s End.
The good: Tracking rockets, cluster bombs, excellent damage against Hive Majors.
The bad: Linear Compensator and Aggressive Launch don’t work (bug?).
Conclusion: Preforms well in PvE; a great alternative to the Exotic rocket launchers.

Weapon Review
Hunger of Crota is a heavy rocket launcher that can only be obtained by defeating Crota. We have a full guide to Crota’s End if you need help with the raid.
This rocket launcher has often been compared to Gjallarhorn because of its tracking ability and cluster bombs. Is it just as good? The best Legendary rocket launcher? Keep reading…

The Good
If you are looking for a legendary rocket launcher that can take the place of Gjallarhorn in PvE, then Hunger of Crota is going to be the closest thing that can do that.
Hunger of Crota‘s blast radius and velocity are slightly lower, but its other base stats are very similar to Gjallarhorn.
Once fully upgraded you have the option to increase the blast radius or velocity. Because of the tracking, the base velocity is excellent as it is, and you’ll benefit more from an increase in blast radius since its below average without any upgrades.
The additional cluster bombs you get with its column 5 upgrade don’t track like Gjallarhorn’s do, but they’re still powerful and make up for the low blast radius.
The reload speed is also high too, well above average.
Unique to the raid weapons is the “Hive Disruptor” perk which increases damage to Hive Majors. You’ll be able to get about 300-400 additional damage to Majors.

The Bad
Not a huge issue, but one worth mentioning, is that the cluster bombs to not track, so you’re not even guaranteed to hit anything with them. If you fire a rocket in a crowded space, then you’ve got a good chance to, but nowhere close to the extra damage that Gjallarhorn’s will provide.
The biggest hit against this weapon is actually its low ammo reserves. Without any armor that increases heavy ammo, you are only able to hold 2 in the magazine and 2 in reserve.
Fortunately it goes up to 6 when you get a heavy ammo increase, which brings its ammo reserves into the correct range for a weapon you can actually use.
Other than that, Hunger of Crota is a real powerhouse, and a worthy alternative to an Exotic heavy.
Cosmetics
The “eater of hope.”
Probably the coolest looking rocket launcher, if you like the creepy/dead look. The skull on the front is a reminder that this launcher means business!
Like all raid weapons, it appears to be infected with the Hive’s evil, giving off a green tint.

Conclusion
Hunger of Crota isn’t as optimal as Gjallarhorn for pure damage, but it comes close enough that you can equip a primary/special Exotic and not have to worry.
With tracking and superb stats, overall the weapon is an excellent choice to use in just about every encounter.
For PvP the Hunger of Crota will fall a bit short, but it’s still worth using. Generally it’s better to use a heavy machine gun in PvP anyway, but this is definitely in the top 5 list for rocket launchers.
If you are lucky enough to get it to drop from Crota, you will not be disappointed!
For PvP this weapon earns a 7/10 and for PvE a 8.4/10.
