The Good

As you may have expected, Badger CCL is in the slow firing/high Impact archetype. High Impact makes each shot extremely valuable and powerful.

Badger ‘Couldn’t Care Less’ has the highest Impact among its Legendary brothers, tied with Gheleon’s Demise and a few others.

In the Crucible you’ll be doing 49 on the body and 73 to the head, which means you’ll just need 3-4 shots to take down another Guardian. With Luck in the Chamber, body damage will be 65 and critical damage will increase to 97.
badger ccl pve damage review
In PvE the body damage on a level 30 tier 1 enemy is 408, and 1222 if you land a critical hit. Many tier 1 enemies will go down with just 1 critical shot. With Luck in the Chamber, body damage is 543 and critical is 1629.

The range is above average and will be completely maxed with Send It & Ranged Lens RLS3. It’s recommended that you choose Flared Magwell instead of Send It though; the range is already good to go.

The Bad

With the right perks this could be an amazing scout rifle. Perks like Zen Moment, Explosive Rounds, Third Eye, or Firefly would really propel Badger CCL into another tier.

Mulligan procs so infrequently that it’s hardly noticeable. Luck in the Chamber adds a damage boost, but with such a large magazine size, in PvP you’ll usually reload before it activates. Send It does maximize the range, but the range is already exceptional, so that perk isn’t worth using.

Reload speed is slow, but not as slow as B-Line Trauma (full review). The base reload speed is 2.55 seconds but that can be accelerated to 1.6 seconds with Flared Magwell + TrueSight IS.

Stability is average among the other Legendary scout rifles, and to keep it at its best, use the standard Red Dot-OAS sight.

Its magazine is low compared to many scout rifles, but due to the high damage inflicted with each shot, this isn’t as big of an issue as you may think.

Conclusion

If not for its default vendor perks, this would be an amazing scout rifle. Each time you pull the trigger, you can feel the destructive force that comes behind such high Impact, and its incredible.

Is it worth buying for the high Impact & range? That depends on how much you value it. The only other 61 Impact alternative would be Gheleon’s Demise, which you won’t always have the opportunity to purchase.
badger ccl pve review
If you desperately need a high Impact scout rifle, and you don’t have Gheleon’s Demise, then pick up Badger CCL.

For PvP this weapon earns a 8/10 and for PvE a 8.2/10.
