Armsday Roll Recommendations

Contributing Author: Alex R.

#3 – SUROS ARI-41

  1. Fitted Stock/Feather Mag – Single Point Sling/Rifled Barrel – Focused Fire
  2. Fitted Stock/Appended Magazine – Lightweight/Rifled Barrel – Unflinching
  3. Perfect Balance/Feather Mag – Lightweight/Reinforced Barrel – Glass Half Full

It’s time to be picky with our Auto Rifles. We want Hidden Hand for PvP, and for PvE, Spray and Play seems like a great option. Wait for one of these in the coming weeks, because the ARI-41 can be a beast if you get either of these perks. As for the rolls this week, #3 is okay, but none of these rolls stand out.

None – Herja-D

Not enough this week for the Herja-D either! We’re going to want Counterbalance on any Hakke Pulse Rifle. Bungie tried to make this not a thing, but it’s still definitely a thing. Having more predictable recoil does amazing things for this gun. Look out for it next week!

#3 – Lyudmila-D

  1. Danger Close – Spray and Play – Single Point Sling/Fitted Stock/Injection Mold
  2. Last Resort – Rangefinder – Snapshot/Speed Reload/Oiled Frame
  3. Glass Half Full – Zen Moment – Single Point Sling/Fitted Stock/Injection Mold

Wake me up when we get to a good roll! No Counterbalance? No thanks! We hate to sound like a broken record, but if this gun comes in next week with a great roll, we want to make sure we told you to wait! In this case, if you’re still in the market for a perfect Lyudmila-D, wait until you see Counterbalance and go from there.

#2 or 3 – Jingukogo-D

  • Final Round, Kneepads, Hand Loaded
  • Surrounded, Full Auto, Rifled Barrel

While we’re often underwhelmed by the performance of the Jingukogo-D, this is a great roll to take into PvE with Surrounded’s bonuses and potentially PvP. Full Auto helps your rate of fire to burn down enemies in PvE, and if you aren’t hooked on high-impact shotguns for PvP, give this a try with its flexibility.

#1 – Tamar-D

  1. Unflinching | Performance Bonus | Explosive Rounds/Armor Piercing Rounds/Injection Mold
  2. Take a Knee | Partial Refund | Explosive Rounds/Snapshot/Injection Mold
  3. Unflinching | Feeding Frenzy | High Caliber Rounds/Quickdraw/Braced Frame

Performance Bonus means more ammo and Injection Mold means more handling. For a PvE-oriented sniper like this, what more could you want? Keep in mind that there actually is more we could want: Surplus. Surplus is such a good perk in PvE that if you’re stingy, you may want to hold off until next week to see if you can nab a roll with it. If not, this week’s roll should perform well in PvE.

Other Notable Rolls

#1 – Eirene RR4

  • Outlaw – Quickdraw/Oiled Frame – Unflinching/Underdog

A very solid PVP roll for this weapon, you get your choice of the two lower zoom scopes (Faucon being the lowest), Quickdraw to max out your already solid handling, and Unflinching to help you win those contested shots. No complaints here!

#2 – DIS-43

  • Perfect Balance/Casket Mag – Unflinching – Single Point Sling/Rifled Barrel

A really solid pickup for this weapon which checks several different boxes. You can take your pick of the scopes, with the very light SLO-12 and the zoomed in SPO-28, and then switch off between Perfect Balance for PVP and close-up play, and Casket Mag for when you need more ammo in PVE. Unflinching is always handy, especially with the slower 1 second TTK, and finally I think Single Point Sling is an often underrated perk – it both enhances weapon swap speed and increases your strafe speed while ADS.

#2 – Aoife Rua-D

  • Unflinching – Feeding Frenzy – HCR / Snapshot / Braced Frame

Although we didn’t get ATA Scout, the Raptor scout only has .05 higher zoom. Unflinching is always handy for staying on target under fire, and you have an interesting choice between Snapshot for quickscoping in and Braced Frame to give you massive Stability and very easy follow up shots. With Raptor also highlighting low health enemies for easy clean-up kills, there’s some real potential here.

#2 – Tuonela SR4

  • Life support – extended mag / hand laid stock – army of one / underdog

Torch, Life Support, and your choice of Extended Mag or Hand-Laid Stock make this a really excellent roll over all. And yes, just ignore that final perk slot – we can’t have everything, after all.

#2 – PDX-45

  • Perfect Balance / Feather Mag – Unflinching – Snapshot / Smallbore

This ultra stable pulse rifle is very close to what I would consider a god roll, although I’d like a little more range instead of the extra Stability from Smallbore. That said, you have a couple decent scope choices, perfect stability, around 30 range and Unflinching to ward off other high-flinch weapons. It all comes together to make a truly dominant mid-range weapon.

#2 or 3 – PDX-41

  • High Caliber Rounds/Appended Magazine – Counterbalance – Single Point Sling/Smallbore
  • High Caliber Rounds/Oiled Frame – Hidden Hand – Lightweight/Smallbore

We have two solid choices here featuring High Caliber Rounds, and it’s your call which one is a winner. Either way, you have some decent scopes, HCR and Smallbore to hit hard while pushing up Stability and Range. the real question is this: can you live without Counterbalance in order to boost your mediocre Aim Assist with Hidden Hand? I think the answer should be yes, but only you can decide.

#1 or 2 – Zarinaea-D

  1.  Crowd Control – Glass Half Full – Single Point Sling / Fitted Stock / Smallbore
  2. Crowd Control – Spray and Play – Single Point Sling / Hand Loaded / Smallbore

Roll 2 is a classically solid choice here, with the SC Holo, Crowd Control, extra range and stability, and a workable reload perk in Spray and Play (which combos well with Smallbore). That said, Roll 1 is a very interesting means of stacking damage across Crowd Control and Glass Half Full to net potentially very fast follow up kills.

#3 – ARI-45

  • Perfect Balance / Appended Magazie – Single Point Sling / Hand Laid Stock – Rodeo

I can’t argue with this bad boy: Perfect Balance is all the stability you could want in PVP, and Appended Mag makes sure your PVE experience isn’t one long reload animation. SPS again is very handy for swapping and strafing, and HLS actually pairs very well with Appended Mag. Throw in Rodeo and if you can’t hit a headshot here it’s your own fault.

Next Week’s Orders

Weapon Type Impact Notable Stat
Zarinaea-D Auto Rifle Medium Reload (65)
Eirene RR4 Sniper Rifle High  Reload (57)
Aoife Rua-D Sniper Rifle Medium Reload (68)
Jingukogo-D Shotgun Medium Stability (56)
Tamar-D Sniper Rifle Medium Reload (66)

Hakke Zarinaea D

The Zarinaea has really solid base stats for the mid RoF Auto Rifle archetype, including the highest base Stability in the class. Couple that with a solid variety of perks and you have a great and extremely easy to use weapon. In fact, the Zarinaea and others like it are so easy to use, there’s talk that they may begin to rise back into the meta in the near future. I recommend grabbing a package if you want to see what the rumors are about for yourself.

Hakke Jingukogo-D

Didn’t we just do this? Stat-wise, this gun is just fine, and it has some really solid perks available as well, with everything from Crowd Control to Final Round, Rifled Barrel and Full Auto. In fact, there’s nothing to really dislike at all! Except, you know, the 3 round magazine. That has always been a major weakness for me, as the gun is otherwise effectively identical to the Strongbow-D, which has 5 rounds in its mag. Pick one up if you really need a shotgun, but then again, probably don’t bother.

Hakke Tamar-D

The deja vu here is really going to my head! We did just see the Tamar-D last week, so if there’s a roll you want to experiment with and you have the scratch, grab a roll and pick up the package again. It’s a well-built sniper in the upper-middle archetype and worth checking out. Last week I made comparison to Antimony from new Monarchy, and Defiance of Yasmin from King’s Fall (still the best option for this class of Snipers) and I guess I’m making them again. Also, as I said before, the Tamar-D can be rolled specifically for either PVE or PVP content, but the perks don’t translate to the other side well, so consider multiple packages if you’re serious about experimenting with it.

Hakke Aoife Rua-D

Okay, now this one we didn’t see last week – but we might as well have! It’s essentially the same gun as the Tamar-D, with imperceptibly lower Stability and Aim Assist (7 points net, between both stats) and a 20 point advantage in Inventory score which makes it a bit easier to expand your reserve ammo with gear (but only a bit). If I had to pick just one of them, I’d take the Tamar.

Omolon Eirene RR4

If you only get one sniper rifle from Armsday, this is the one to get. It’s a potential beast in PVE and at least respectable in PVP as well, with the right roll. It’s in the second highest Impact class after Black Spindle, but effectively the same as 1kYS and Longbow Synthesis in practice, meaning it can one-shot through revives and Supers alike. It also has very low (21) Aim Assist, one of the lowest ratings in the game, which some people will love, and a lot of people will hate. I consider it a must-buy any time I don’t have a package.
