Greetings, Guardians! Hope you’re doing well. This week, Xur is hanging out at Nessus, near Watcher’s Grave. Read on to see what he’s brought along this week.
This week, for 29 Legendary Shards, Xur carries:
Trinity Ghoul
From the Forsaken expansion, Trinity Ghoul is an Exotic Bow that blasts unlucky enemies with lightning. One of its two unique Perks, Split Electron, lets the bow fire a split arrow whose spread can be controlled by fully drawing and aiming down sights. The other, Lightning Rod, rewards precision kills by letting the next shot create a chain lightning storm. By their powers combined, the two perks make the Ghoul a pretty neat PvE weapon, kind of like the old Zhalo Supercell, but with a little more work required. If you like Bows and/or lightning, give it a try.
And for 23 Legendary Shards, Xur offers:
Sanguine Alchemy
Fashionable and functional, Xur brings the Sanguine Alchemy chest piece for Warlocks. When standing in a Rift, its Heightened Senses perk lets you and your allies keep radar while ADS, and even marks stronger targets for you. On top of that, Blood Magic extends the duration of Rifts you score kills in. While a bit of an oddity, I can see a place for it in PvP scenarios; you’re essentially trading mobility for better information. Situationally, that may be a trade worth taking.
Aeon Swift
The Aeon Exotics are designed to be used together across a Fireteam, giving buffs to anyone else using Aeon equipment. Problem is, the buffs aren’t good enough to be worth it. You’re better off using Exotics that help out in more specialized ways, or just ones you prefer.
Khepri’s Horn
Titans don’t get the privilege of strapping an angry insect to their arm. They get to be the angry insect. Khepri’s Horn has the Solar Rampart Exotic Perk, making Barricades fire a Solar blast on summon. On top of that, Solar kills recharge the Barricade. Put down a Barricade. Blast them with the Sun. Repeat. Seems like a fun loop.
Xur also carries an Exotic Engram, providing a random Exotic piece for 97 Legendary Shards, the Five of Swords for Nightfalls, and The Invitation of the Nine for 9 Legendary Shards, if you haven’t completed that quest yet.
Also, Xur now has a quest to get an Exotic Cipher! By doing Strikes or winning Crucible or Gambit games, you can unlock a Cipher to access vaulted Exotic gear!
To the collectors out there: this is the first time Xur has had Khepri’s Horn up for a very long time. Grab it if you don’t have it. To everyone else: aside from Trinity Ghoul, I’m not seeing too much to be excited about with this week’s Exotics. There’s an Aeon item in there, so we know he can do better. If you have Trinity and Khepri’s Horn, I don’t blame you for keeping your Shards this week.
See you next week!
