Greetings, Guardians! How has your week been? Are you ready for fun times and Exotics? If so, head over to Nessus, around the Watcher’s Grave area. I know a guy. He’s kind of wiggly, but he’ll get you the stuff. Read on to see which stuff that is.
This week, for 29 Legendary Shards, Xur carries:
Graviton Lance
The Graviton Lance is an interesting Exotic Pulse Rifle. Thanks to its high-recoil two-round burst, playing with it can feel a bit closer to a Scout Rifle than a Pulse. Getting over that small learning curve has upside, though; the Lance’s Black Hole intrinsic perk takes away the second shot’s damage falloff and raises its damage. If you didn’t pick it up a long time ago, I’d suggest giving it a try.
And for 23 Legendary Shards, Xur offers:
Getaway Artist
Getaway Artist is a newer Exotic gauntlet with a pretty neat ability. Dynamic Duo lets you trade your grenade for a follower Arc Turret, or as they’ve always been called around me, Arc Buddy. It seems situational at first glance, but the Arc Buddy is pretty good. Give the Getaway Artist a shot if you haven’t yet.
Shinobu’s Vow
Shinobu’s Vow is a niche tool for Arcstriders. New Tricks gives an extra Skip Grenade charge and raises the damage of Skips a bit. If that sounds like it would be complementary to your Arcstrider playstyle, then great! If not, feel free to skip it.
Armamentarium
You know what’s never bad? An extra grenade. Titans can opt into that simple, yet effective philosophy this week by picking up The Armamentarium. And Another Thing gives you another Grenade charge to blast your enemies with. Sometimes, that’s all you need. Pick it up if you don’t have it.
Xur also carries an Exotic Engram, providing a random Exotic piece for 97 Legendary Shards, the Five of Swords for Nightfalls, and The Invitation of the Nine for 9 Legendary Shards, if you haven’t completed that quest yet.
Also, Xur now has a quest to get an Exotic Cipher! By doing Strikes or winning Crucible or Gambit games, you can unlock a Cipher to access vaulted Exotic gear!
Overall, this week’s Exotics are in a strange “utilitarian, but meh” category, perhaps excepting Getaway Artist, which I think is a bit more interesting. The Lance is good and rewards the patience involved in conquering its small learning curve, but there are better guns. Armamentarium and Vow both give Grenades, which is exactly as good as you personally think it is.
See you next week!
