Greetings, Guardians! Hope you’re having a nice week. I’ll keep it simple this week; our mutual friend Xur is at the EDZ, in his usual high point in the Winding Cove. Read on to see this weekend’s wares.
This week, for 29 Legendary Shards, Xur carries:
Skyburner’s Oath
Skyburner’s Oath is a big, imposing Scout Rifle modeled after Cabal weaponry. To wit, its first Exotic perk (it has two!) is Slug Rifle, which turns the gun into a powerful but slow Scout when ADS, while having it fire grenade-like rounds from the hip. The other perk, For the Empire, sets the Oath to more of a PvE mode, with extra damage to Cabal, the ability to ignore Phalanx shields, and full-auto fire.
I love the feel of Skyburner’s Oath — there’s a weight to each of those ADS shots that I really enjoy — but there are better weapons if you’re interested in playing optimally. I’d still grab it from Xur, though.
And for 23 Legendary Shards, Xur offers:
Karnstein Armlets
Known to victims of the Mandela Effect as Karnstain Amulets, these Warlock Gauntlets are here to help you stay alive and well. They do this with the Vampire’s Caress Exotic perk, which turns melee kills into heals — both a large one up front, and another over time. They’re very good gloves, so pick them up and start making uncomfortable slurping noises into your mic as you heal up by turning other Guardians to space dust.
Lucky Raspberry
A throwback Exotic, Lucky Raspberry is a Hunter Chest piece that gives your Arc grenades a bit more of everything. The Probability Matrix Exotic Perk makes your Arcbolt Grenades chain further and gives them a chance to reset on damage. Like any Hunter Exotic I have to do research on, I can’t recommend it. Despite the plethora of horrid Hunter Exotics, there are much better things you could be doing than using Lucky Raspberry.
Actium War Rig
(Still having a gallery issue regarding Titan items specifically. Please enjoy this extreme close-up from the archives in the interim.)
The Actium War Rig is a sweet Exotic chest piece that keeps your finger on the Auto Rifle trigger with its Exotic Auto-Loading Link perk. Auto-Loading Link reloads your Auto Rifles as you’re firing them, helping to bring some sweet sustained damage. If you’re a Titan who’s a fan of autofire, run to Xur and throw Shards at him until he hands you an Actium War Rig.
Xur also carries an Exotic Engram, providing a random Exotic piece for 97 Legendary Shards, the Five of Swords for Nightfalls, and The Invitation of the Nine for 9 Legendary Shards, if you haven’t completed that quest yet.
Also, Xur now has a quest to get an Exotic Cipher! By doing Strikes or winning Crucible or Gambit games, you can unlock a Cipher to access vaulted Exotic gear!
Fun selection this weekend, minus Lucky Raspberry. I’m personally a fan of Skyburner’s Oath and the Karnsteins, and Actium is nothing to sneeze at, no matter how much I can see a face in it, thanks to the extreme close-up I found. None of these are the most exciting, though, so I’d understand if you felt like keeping your Shards in your pocket.
See you next week!
