Greetings, Guardians! It’s Friday; you know what that means. Xur has returned! This week, he’s hanging out at the EDZ, at the Winding Cove. Should you make a trip to Earth with a pocket full of Legendary Shards? Read on to find out.
This week, for 29 Legendary Shards, Xur carries:
Telesto
Telesto is a Fusion Rifle that plays a little bit differently than its peers. The Unplanned Reprieve perk makes Telesto fire what are essentially delayed Void sticky bombs, rather than the standard Fusion Rifle death lasers. It sounds weird, but once you’re used to it, Telesto becomes one of the most interesting and satisfying Exotics in the game to use. It’s at its best in PvE, where you can take advantage of Harbinger’s Pulse to reload your weapons on multikills, but I’ve also had a blast with it in PvP, despite it being a bit suboptimal there. Telesto is fun. Don’t hesitate to grab it.
And for 23 Legendary Shards, Xur offers:
Getaway Artist
Getaway Artist is a newer Exotic gauntlet with a pretty neat ability. Dynamic Duo lets you trade your grenade for a follower Arc Turret, or as they’ve always been called around me, Arc Buddy. It seems situational at first glance, but the Arc Buddy is pretty good. Give the Getaway Artist a shot if you haven’t yet.
Sealed Ahamkara Grasps
The Sealed Ahamkara Grasps are a pretty neat Hunter Exotic, oh bearer mine. The Nightmare Fuel perk reloads your weapon when you land Melee damage. Punch things to top you off and stay in the fight; it’s that simple.
Antaeus Wards
(for some reason, my screenshot set is missing these! I’ll fix it as soon as I find out the issue)
A throwback to Forsaken, the Antaeus Wards are a fun and useful set of Titan legs. Their Reflective Wards Exotic Perk improves your slide and gives it the ability to reflect projectiles. It’s not easy, but once you get the timing down, you can reflect any number of projectiles, up to and including Supers like Nova Bomb. That’s useful and hilarious, making the Wards an Exotic I can absolutely get behind.
Xur also carries an Exotic Engram, providing a random Exotic piece for 97 Legendary Shards, the Five of Swords for Nightfalls, and The Invitation of the Nine for 9 Legendary Shards, if you haven’t completed that quest yet.
Also, Xur now has a quest to get an Exotic Cipher! By doing Strikes or winning Crucible or Gambit games, you can unlock a Cipher to access vaulted Exotic gear!
I’m a fan of every Exotic for sale this week. Telesto is one of my favorite weapons in the whole series. Getaway Artist has fun potential. The Grasps are simple, but effective, oh bearer mine. And the Wards? I’m picking those up today and sliding directly into danger. Throw your Shards at Xur and enjoy, Guardians.
See you next week!
