Another weekend means another meeting with Xur, the well-traveled Agent of the Nine. He’s hanging out at Titan this week, in a little structure on the northern end of The Rig. Did he bring anything neat for my birthday? Let’s find out.
This week, for 29 Legendary Shards, Xur carries:
Monte Carlo
An old favorite from D1, the Monte Carlo has arrived to help you lay the smackdown on your enemies. Literally. If you like punching stuff half as much as I do, you’re in luck; this Exotic Auto Rifle comes with the Monte Carlo Method Exotic perk, lowering melee ability cooldown with successful shots. Even better? The Method gives Monte Carlo kills a chance to fully reset your melee ability. After spraying or punching your way to a kill, the Markov Chain perk gives the Monte Carlo a damage buff, plus some ammo on melee kills.
This gun was a blast in D1, and I’m told it only gets better here. Pick it up, fire it, punch stuff, and get rewarded.
And for 23 Legendary Shards, Xur offers:
Verity’s Brow
For Warlocks, Xur provides a Solar Verity’s Brow this week. The Exotic helmet regenerates grenade energy for you and nearby allies after Energy weapon kills with its Exotic perk, The Fourth Magic.
No fun commentary here; Verity’s Brow is fine, but not too exciting, and outclassed by other Warlock Exotics.
Orpheus Rig
Hunters can get excited, though, as Xur brings them an Arc Orpheus Rig this week. The Rig’s Uncanny Arrows perk gives more Super energy based on how many enemies are tethered by Shadowshot. It’s fantastic for PvE content, and remains a good choice for Raids and Nightfalls, even if it ate a nerf a while back. Get these legs if you don’t have them yet; you’ll be glad you did.
Actium War Rig
Titans also receive a useful Arc Rig from Xur this week. The Actium War Rig is a sweet Exotic chest piece that keeps your finger on the Auto Rifle trigger with its Exotic Auto-Loading Link perk. Auto-Loading Link reloads your Auto Rifles as you’re firing them, helping to bring some sweet sustained damage. If you’re a Titan who’s a fan of autofire, run to Xur and throw Shards at him until he hands you an Actium War Rig.
Xur also carries an Exotic Engram, providing a random Exotic goodie for 97 Legendary Shards, the Five of Swords for Nightfalls, and The Invitation of the Nine for 9 Legendary Shards, if you haven’t completed that quest yet.
How’s the weekend treating you so far, Guardians? Are you picking up any of Xur’s goods this week? Is there something you’re hoping he arrives with in the near future? Let us know! Also, check out the recently posted and super handy Exotic Reviews! They’re great reading, and really help to break down the guns’ strengths and weaknesses.
See you next week!
