It hits hard even with low Impact and functions just as well as most other Legendary shotguns. Our review was made before the 100% PvE buff!
Check out how we place it in our PvP and PvE Exotic tier list, and we also have a full review for it.
Should I buy it?
Is this gun fun to use? Absolutely. In PvP it’s very viable in the right hands. As long as you can get in that ‘sweet spot’ range, you’ll dominate in Rumble and smaller maps because its unique perk really helps.
If you enjoy being up close and personal with your enemies, then this is a great weapon to do it with, especially since you’ve also got the utility of also using a shotgun.
Stats Compared to Other Shotguns
- Above Average: RoF, Stability
- Below Average: (Base) Range, Impact

- Universal Remote: Range and precision damage increases greatly while aiming down the sights.
[divider]Mk. 44 Stand Asides
The Mk. 44 Stand Asides, cosmetically similar to Ruin Wings, are a below average choice for any PvP-focused Striker who enjoys getting up close and personal with the enemy. These ranked in tier 3 for our Titan Exotic PvE/PvP list.
It’s got a poor 126/135 Strength roll, while the new max is about 166.
Talents
- Heavy Weapon Ammo – Increases the amount of Heavy Weapon ammunition you can carry.
- Be Somewhere Else – Increases the duration Shoulder Charge remains active.
Should I buy it?
If you desperately need a PvP-specific Exotic for your Striker, maybe give these a shot. Keep in mind that if you’ve already got an armor piece that increases heavy weapon ammo, it’s not going to stack with these boots.
These will enable you to run a bit longer, and the high Strength will ensure a quick followup Storm Fist.
Use the Transfusion talent to further aid you on the field with health regeneration after a kill with Shoulder Charge.
[divider]Mask of the Third Man
This is a helm that every Bladedancer should own. Mask of the Third Man‘s unique ability is reduces the amount of Super energy used when attacking with Arc Blade. Couple this helm with the Encore talent for even more time with the Arc Blade.
It has a a low 104/110 Intellect roll – the new max is 136.
Talents
- Infusion – Replenishes health each time you pick up an Orb of Light.
- Switchblade – Increases melee attack speed.
- Unstable Current – Arc Blade attacks use less super energy.
Should I buy it?
If there are encounters that have swarms of enemies, like the first phase of Templar or thelamps in Crota’s End, you can easily double or triple the amount of time you’re able to use Arc Blade.
In PvP, Mask of the Third Man will allow for a bit more of an extension as well, since every kill won’t be using up as much energy.
Mask of the Third Man, being the only Exotic helm that’s specific to the Bladedancer, is a great choice if you enjoy that subclass. You’re going to always make use out of the Switchblade perk since you’ll undoubtedly be using your melee a lot.
[divider]Light Beyond Nemesis
For a team player who wants medic-like perks, this helm is worth picking up. This is an ideal helm for 3v3 Crucible & Trials, since you will be resurrecting teammates faster.
This helm has an average 109/115 Strength roll.
Talents
- Snap Discharge – Increases melee attack speed.
- Infusion – Replenishes health each time you pick up an Orb of Light.
- Keeper of the Pack – You revive fallen teammates faster, and they revive you faster. Your Super also spawns additional orbs for teammates.
Should I buy it?
If you don’t have armor that will help you revive quicker, this is a decent one to pick up for Trials.
In PvE, with Infusion and Keeper of the Pack, the perks just are too niche to qualify this helm for general use. It’s worth keeping though if you know you’ll be in a situation where either of those perks will come in handy.
This helm will be benefit you most when fighting Crota on hard mode.
