Xur Location and Inventory | 5/8 – 5/11

Good day, Guardians! Another weekend means another visit from Xur, the enigmatic Exotic merchant and Agent of the Nine. It would appear that Xur has decided to hang out on Nessus this week, on Calus’ shiny golden barge at Watcher’s Grave. Read on to learn what The Nine are offering this week.

This week, for 29 Legendary Shards, Xur carries:

Hard Light

Oof. Feels bad. Until very recently, Hard Light was the gun to beat in endgame PvP content. Volatile Light used to remove damage falloff completely, and shots would ricochet and pierce for much more damage, turning narrow passages into kill boxes (For more info on the changes, check out Critbuff’s recent Hard Light postmortem). The gun is still good, especially in PvE, where the nerfs don’t exist, but it won’t carry you through Trials anymore.

And for 23 Legendary Shards, Xur offers:

Apotheosis Veil

A throwback Exotic from Destiny 1, the Apotheosis Veil is a strictly meh Warlock Helmet, only remarkable as the first Exotic the author ever got in D1. It’s Insatiable perk regenerates your health and abilities when you use your Super. It’s fine, but Warlocks aren’t exactly hurting for good Exotic armor, so I can’t recommend it.

Gwisin Vest

Wikipedia tells me a Gwisin is some sort of Korean spirit. Neat! The Gwisin Vest is a solid piece of Hunter armor that rewards you for getting up close and personal with Spectral Blades. Its intrinsic Roving Assassin perk gives you Super energy every time someone falls to your Spectral Blades and you’re able to return to stealth. Give them the stabo and get rewarded.

Hallowfire Heart

Solar Titans get a neat chest pieĂșce this week, as Xur offers the Hallowfire Heart. The Heart brings the heat via the Sunfire Furnace Exotic perk, lowering the cooldown on your Solar abilities. Cooldown is even faster when your Super is up. Another niche piece, but give it a shot if you’re into the perk or the aesthetic.

Xur also carries an Exotic Engram, providing a random Exotic piece for 97 Legendary Shards, the Five of Swords for Nightfalls, and The Invitation of the Nine for 9 Legendary Shards, if you haven’t completed that quest yet.

Overall decent picks from Xur this week. The Hard Light changes make grabbing one now a bit rough, but the gun still rolls PvE enemies. 2/3 of the armor looks fun; check it out. We’ll see you next week!
