Love it or hate it, a lot of people will use this primary shotgun to great success. It takes a certain kind of player to make it work well, but if you’re the type who enjoys the variety, it can be a lot of fun.

Check out how we place it in our PvP and PvE Exotic tier list, and we also have a full review for it – but that was published before the shotgun PvE buff.

Should I buy it?

It’s a steal at only 17 SC, so you might as well. In all likelihood, it’s not going to be your go-to Exotic weapon, but it opens more options for you in situations where you wish you had X special weapon in addition to a powerful shotgun.

In PvP it’s very powerful in the right hands. As long as you can get in that ‘sweet spot’ range, you’ll dominate in Rumble and smaller maps because its unique perk really helps.

If you enjoy being up close and personal with your enemies, then this is a great weapon to do it with, but nowhere near the best.

Comparison

  • Above Average: Range (with the unique perk), Stability
  • Below Average: Impact, Reload Speed

Notable Perks

  • Crowd Control: Kills with this weapon grant bonus damage for a short time.
  • Universal Remote: Range and precision damage increases greatly while aiming down the sights.

An Insurmountable Skullfort’s unique ability is awesome for Striker Titans that love to punch things (and who doesn’t love to punch?).

The roll of 125/131 Discipline is above average.

Talents

  • Infusion – Replenishes health each time you pick up an Orb of Light.
  • Impact Induction – Causing damage with a melee reduces your grenade cooldown.
  • Improved Transfusion – Kills with Storm Fist immediately trigger health regeneration. You also respawn with full Melee energy.

Should I buy it?

Easily a tier 1 PvP helm, it grants Discipline (perfect for maximizing cooldown on those all-important grenades), gives full melee energy on respawn, and provides Transfusion free of charge; what’s not to love? This helmet is ideal for the punch-happy Titan.

Although it doesn’t grant the useful Rain Blows perk, Skullfort’s Transfusion is potent, activating on both regular melee and Shoulder Charge kills alike. You are free to select between Aftershocks and Headstrong with this benefit, and Amplify and Discharge become appealing options in lieu of Overload with Skullfort granting melee energy after every death.

Lucky Raspberry is the only chest piece specific to the Bladedancer. Lucky Raspberry’s main feature is the ability to spawn with grenade energy, allowing you to use your (more powerful) grenade more often.

The roll isn’t bad at all, at a respectable 163/172 Intellect.

Talents

  • Fusion Rifle Ammo – Increases the amount of Fusion Rifle ammunition you can carry.
  • Heavy Weapon Ammo – Increases the amount of Heavy Weapon ammunition you can carry.
  • Improved Arcbolt Grenade – Arcbolt Grenade chains further. Spawn with grenade energy.

Should I buy it?

There’s only 2 Hunter Chests in the game right now, and this one is arguably much better – especially with a good fusion rifle like Plan C or Vex Mythoclast, as it’ll greatly increase the ammo.

The extra heavy weapon ammo unfortunately does not stack with other armor that provides the same perk, such as the Tireless Striders.

The extra range on the Arcbolt grenade is nice, but Improved Arcbolt Grenade will really be helpful in PvP for that immediate grenade when you respawn. Remember: it’ll work with any grenade.

This is an OK helm to have as any Warlock, as it’s subclass-neutral, but just know that Infusion and Private Reserves are niche and can’t be relied on.

This helm has an above average 123/130 Discipline.

Talents

  • Serpent’s Tail – Causing damage with a melee reduces your grenade cooldown.
  • Infusion – Replenishes health each time you pick up an Orb of Light.
  • Private Reserves – Immediately regenerate health on activating your Super.

Should I buy it?

Don’t buy it if you want a new PvP-only Exotic, as it preforms much better in PvE.

This is another piece of gear that strongly encourages a grenade lobbing playstyle. Any melee damage causes a boost in the recharge of your grenades; you don’t even have to land a kill to get more energy.

While Fireborn Sunsingers won’t find much use in the Apotheosis Veil, a Voidwalker or Radiant Skin Sunsinger’s can make interesting changes to their playstyle with it.

If you’re low on health, you can pop your Nova Bomb to obliterate anything nearby and let your health regenerate. As a Sunsinger, you can activate your Radiant Skin and regain your health before you even enter a fight.
