Don’t know how to get VIP rewards? Don’t know what Collector’s items are? This guide will outline everything you need to know about them!

VIP
What?
VIP rewards include:
- 1 shader
- 1 emblem
- 1 Sparrow
- *More…
*As of creating this article, the “more” is undefined.
You’ll find these rewards in the Tower as early as 9/15/15. They’ll most likely be waiting for you at the Postmaster or the Special Orders vendor, but that’s yet to be determined.
How?
You must meet the requirements of all steps (1-3) listed below:
- Own Destiny
- Before August 31st, 2015: have a Level 30 Guardian OR played both The Dark Below and House of Wolves
- Before February 1st, 2016: play any version of The Taken King
You don’t technically need to have played expansion I or II to be eligible for VIP rewards. However, you need to own those expansions to play The Taken King, and you need The Taken King to acquire the VIP rewards.
So what does this mean? As long as you have at least one Level 30 Guardian before August 31st, you could purchase expansion I & II after that date and still be good to go. In short: You can be eligible for VIP rewards without all expansions, but you can’t wear/own/use VIP items without all expansions.

Q: Can I get VIP rewards without owning The Taken King?
A: No
Q: Do I need both expansions (TDB & HoW) to play The Taken King?
A: Yes
Q: After August 31st, if I don’t have a Level 30 Guardian or have played both The Dark Below and House of Wolves, can I still get the VIP rewards?
A: No
Q: Do I need to pre-order to be a VIP?
A: No
Q: Do the Collector’s items correlate in any way with VIP items?
A: You need to meet steps 1-3 to acquire VIP items. Anyone who purchases the Collector’s edition, or the separate digital Collector’s items, could also be a VIP (if they meet the requirements).

For now, we’re specifically discussing the digital Collector’s items. Those items include:
- 3 Class Specific Emotes
- 3 Armor Shaders
- 3 Exotic Class Items with XP Bonuses
How?
These can only be acquired by purchasing either version of the $80 Collector’s edition, or separately for $20 on/after September 15th, 2015.

Q: If I just want The Taken King & the digital Collector’s items, how much will it cost?
A: $40+20
Q: If I want the physical Collector’s items, has anything changed?
A: Buy the “Collector’s Edition” for the physical items. You can’t buy physical items separately (except on Amazon, Ebay, etc).
Q: Will X edition wipe my characters, lose my progress, etc?
A: No
Q: Can I buy the Collector’s items & VIP items together?
A: No, you need to complete steps 1, 2, & 3 (above) for VIP items.

A: Yes. If you meet the VIP requirements & also buy the Collector’s content.

A: Bungie says, “If you purchased the existing Digital Collector’s Edition, and you already owned Destiny and both expansion packs, we’ll have some additional information for you soon.”
