Possible Raid Location Discovered?

A few of Destiny 2’s Trophies have provided tantalizing clues as to what’s going to be coming our way in the game. Check out the full list below to see what we mean:

  • Traveler’s Chosen – Obtain all trophies in Destiny 2.
  • Long and Winding Road – Reach level 20.
  • Zavala’s Lieutenant – Acquire each Titan subclass.
  • Cayde’s Pathfinder – Acquire each Hunter subclass.
  • Ikora’s Protege – Acquire each Warlock subclass.
  • Show Me What You Got – Complete Shaxx’s Call to Arms
  • In a Flash – Complete a Flashpoint.
  • The People’s Hero – Complete a Heroic public event.
  • Heart of Darkness – Complete a Nightfall strike.
  • The Life Exotic – Collect 15 exotic weapons or armor.
  • Challenge Accepted – Complete 30 challenges.
  • Belly of the Beast – Complete the Leviathan raid.
  • The Prestige – Complete the Leviathan raid or a Nightfall strike on Prestige difficulty.
  • Lest Ye Be Judged – Encounter an Emissary from beyond.

For Show Me What You Got, could this be the D2 version of the extended Crucible questline that we had in D1 that culminated in ‘The Mountaintop’ quest? Before that quest chain was nerfed it was one of the most grueling things to accomplish in the game, and even after the nerf it still remained quite a grind to complete. Will this achievement function in a similar manner? Or is it something else entirely?

Lest Ye Be Judged is incredibly interesting as well. Perhaps this is in reference to Xur? Reddit user RobyRoby27 pointed out that in the Italian translation of this trophy it states “emissaria” or female emissary. That’s an important distinction, and hints that a brand new Agent will be present in D2. Could this encounter be earned by going flawless in the new Trials mode?

And finally, most interest of all, is the Belly of the Beast. The raid’s name is finally revealed as the Leviathan. The only other time that Leviathan has been referenced in Destiny lore was in the Books of Sorrow. This Leviathan was a massive creature who was extremely intelligent, however it was also killed by the Hive and it’s corpse was fed to the Worm Gods Eir and Yul.

Over on DTG, a couple of interesting threads have popped up speculating on the raid’s location. This thread and this one in particular contain some pretty convincing evidence that the Leviathan referenced in the trophy is actually some type of giant space vessel that appears to suck in small planets and moons to use as fuel for it’s power source.

In addition, there’s also the fact that during the D2 reveal, Luke Smith was wearing a shirt with a mysterious symbol, that bears a striking resemblance to the outline of the Leviathan, and the trophy image for completing the raid features the same symbol, only upside down.

So what will the final boss of Destiny 2’s first raid be? Considering we learned from Edge Magazine’s feature that the campaign final boss is a shapeshifter of sorts, could there be someone besides Ghaul pulling the strings? One theory suggests that he’s being manipulated by the Consul and we’ll actually stop Ghaul during the campaign only for a more serious threat to emerge.

What do you all think? Will the raid be taking place on this giant ‘space catfish’ or maybe it will be an assault on the golden city atop this strange vessel? What could the mysterious Emissary be? Sound off with your theories!
