rise of iron ps exclusives

Collection Edition & PS Exclusives

Bungie has continued the tradition they began last year, heralding the release of a new major update to Destiny with a collection of all past content to bring new and returning players up to speed. The name of this year’s release has a hint of finality about it, suggesting it is intended to be all-inclusive and lending strength to the common belief that there will be no further paid Destiny 1 content prior to Destiny 2’s release next year.

Destiny The Collection is available for pre-order now, and will cost $60 for new and returning players. It includes:

  • Destiny
  • Crota’s End
  • House of Wolves
  • The Taken King
  • Rise of Iron
    • Iron Gjallarhorn (with pre-order)
    • Gjallarwing Sparrow (with pre-order)

Unlisted, but technically also included (since it’s free) is the April Update, including the updated Prison of Elders, Challenge of the Elders, and the Malok story missions and strike. These releases represent a wealth of content and fun for a new player (or a player who put the game aside early in its life), since even many casual players have put in hundreds of hours at this point. At only $60 for content that cost existing players up to $170 to purchase at release, it’s a great deal.

Tomorrow’s live stream promises to draw a massive international audience to watch what may be Bungie’s final major reveal for Rise of Iron prior to its release on September 20th. The stream will feature a new ViDoc, Forged in Fire, which will detail the development and creation of Rise of Iron, along with new images and possibly gameplay from the new Crucible maps and the new game mode, Supremacy.

The most anticipated part of the stream, however, is the “AND MORE…” mentioned in the trailer. Bungie announced some time ago that new features were coming to the Crucible, but has remained cryptic and close-mouthed about what those features might be. The common rumor is that Destiny, a flagship IP for Activision, will finally be getting some form of private game lobbies for PVP, allowing it to make the transition to eSports and ensuring the franchise’s longevity for many years to come. While a combination of other asked-for features and updates might also please fans, there will be many disappointed viewers if some form of private lobbies or manual matchmaking is not in the cards.

Quest line: Show of Strength

“While you serve the Vanguard in the Plaguelands, I wonder if you’d be so kind as to help me understand the more brutal aspects of the Devil Splicers’ brand of worship.” – Tyra Karn

ps exclusive quest

Based on the description offered, and the knowledge that Tyra Karn will be rewarding us with Iron Lord Artifacts for tasks completed in the Plaguelands already, it seems likely that much of this Quest will involve activities on Patrol or in the new Archon’s Forge arena. This most likely won’t be an extended quest or of particular difficulty, especially considering the reward is a purely cosmetic ship.

Reward for Quest: Ship – Timeless Tereshkova

Named after Valentina Tereshkova, the first woman in space whose ship launched from the real Cosmodrome in Russia.

ps exclusive ship

You are but the most recent entry in Cosmodrome’s long and legendary history.

PvP map: Icarus

Location: Languid Sea, Mercury

This Golden Age solar farm on Mercury has remained un-touched by the Vex for reasons unknown. The Vanguard has denied petitions from various weapon foundries to research it until the Warlock orders have finished their surveys first. An exemption has been granted to Lord Shaxx and his Crucible: the Guardians are free to utilize Icarus as a live-fire training zone.

  • Icarus is a mid-sized PVP map compatible with any 6v6 game mode.
  • The outer perimeter features a circular flow mixed with long sightlines and close-combat environments.
  • The main chamber’s closing doors provide a fast, but dangerous, path through the center of the map.
